laura mcgowan

Laura has a B.A. in the History of Art & Architecture from Miami University in Ohio and a M.A. in Art History from The George Washington University. She has taken extensive coursework in both Studio Art and Developmental Psychology.  Her past work experience includes positions at The Morgan Library & Museum, The International Center of Photography, The Smithsonian Early Enrichment Center, and The Dahesh Museum of Art. She has held internships at the Guggenheim Museum, MoMA PS1, and Smithsonian American Art Museum.  

Laura was recently an Art Leader in the Arts for Healing program at the Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital. In September 2022 Laura began as an educator at the Eli Whitney Museum outside New Haven, CT.

Through her teaching, Laura aims to give children the tools they need to connect with art in the world around them. Fostering curiosity is at the center of Laura’s work and empowering children to ask questions is a primary goal.
